As time progressed, the Portuguese added more ingredients like sausages to this dish. Feijoada can be complemented with light red wines such as Pinot Noir or Zweigelt.
Among the meat dishes in South America, it is very easy to distinguish churrasco as the most popular. It's traditionally seasoned with tomato, onion, pepper, vinegar, olive oil, and salt sauce, and cooked on sticks like a kebab. This rich and tasteful dish will suit Carménère wine very well.
On the more exotic side of South American cuisine is Sarapatel, a which is the liver or heart of a pig, cooked with tomatoes, peppers, onions, and the fresh blood of animals. This savory meal goes perfectly with Riesling and Gruner white wines.
